ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First off, assess the game of our newest Big Brother champion, Rick Devens.

JULIE CHEN MOONVES: It was pretty perfect. He had the social game aspect and the competition beast aspect both on lock. Zero criticism from the Chenbot.

Did any of the jury votes surprise you?

Kind of. Kind of Yash, but he loves and respects the game so much that it also makes sense he voted with his brain and not necessarily his heart. Drew’s vote, I had no idea how it would go, but that fact that he voted for Devens to win shows class, brains and heart. Winning combination.

What did you make of Rick’s move to cut Drew and what was it like talking to Drew on stage just seconds after he had his heart ripped out?

It was the right move to secure his win. You never know how someone can convince the Jury with their words in the last moments. Look at what Ashley did last year! Devens had to be concerned with how Drew was going to present his excellent game playing this whole summer, and his extensive résumé of wins. Talking to Drew right after his heart was broken by Devens was emotional. I could feel his swirl of mixed and confused feelings. I wanted to give him a moment to breathe, take it in, and let him have space to be honest, vulnerable and charming as we saw him all summer long.

Taylor called herself the Cinderella of Big Brother. What do you make of her big last-minute move to get Devens to bring her to the final two?

Brilliant. Wow. That may go down as the biggest and most impressive last minute game play where we saw the power of using your words effectively.

Finally, what can you say about the two season renewal of Big Brother, and doing this for at least two more years?

In a word… GRATEFUL.It’s very hard to surprise the Chenbot, and they got me! It felt like walking in to a surprise party where you’re happy your loved ones planned it. I was told right after I got off the air that it was the idea of CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach to do that envelope as a surprise for me. She got me! And she touched my heart.  Well played and thank you. 🙏 She gets my vote as America’s Favorite! LOL! Thanks for another fun, smart summer of excellent questions, Dalton!
