Aaron Rodgers was in no mood to speak to anyone - especially not Mason Rudolph.
On Thursday Night Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers fell 27-24 to the Cleveland Browns in an AFC North showdown. The 42-year-old quarterback appeared agitated throughout, screaming at head coach Mike McCarthy in the first quarter at Huntington Bank Field.
Trailing 21-10 at the half, the Steelers fought back in the second half to tie the game at 24-24 after Rodgers hit Pat Freiermuth on a three-yard touchdown pass before then converting a two-point conversion. But Pittsburgh's defense did not hold up its end of the bargain, with the Browns driving down the field to kick a 56-yard game-winning field goal, moving Cleveland to 3-1 on the year.

Rodgers completed 22 of 40 passes for 299 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in the loss, in which he appeared uptight. He visibly let his frustration out toward the sideline following play-calling miscommunications and tension with McCarthy.
Then, as the Browns developed a strong lead, the four-time MVP was seen fuming on the bench as backup quarterback Rudolph attempted to speak to him. It’s unclear what Rudolph was saying, but given that backups usually act as an extra set of eyes and a sounding board for the starting quarterback, he was likely offering his insight.

But Rodgers was having none of it. One user posted the clip of the interaction, insisting Rodgers was “completely ignoring” Rudolph, adding: “RODGERS DID NOT GIVE A S--- WHAT HE HAD TO SAY.”

Fans appeared to side with Rodgers, though. One user wrote: “One of he Goats [sic] isn’t listening a 3rd stringer.”
“Mason trying to talk him down LOL,” added another.
One lamented the way Rodgers’ final season appears to be playing out, posting: “He should just retire early. Why do this to himself.”
The loss means the Steelers slip to 2-2 and last place in the competitive AFC North. After the game, McCarthy was asked about his clash with Rodgers and expressed regret over the language he used.
“Communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but everybody’s competing on the field,” McCarthy said. “I think, you know, what’s said on the field, the way I grew up in this game, you know, usually stays on the field. That’s not the case today. I understand that. But, yeah, any negative communication on my part, I wish I wouldn’t use those words.”
Rodgers and the Steelers are next in action when they host the Indianapolis Colts at Acrisure Stadium in Week 5 on Sunday, Oct. 11.
