Prince William joined radio host and comedian Greg James on a charity bike ride
The Prince of Wales had them both laughing when he joked that James was "hallucinating" about having the royal join him
The weeklong ride will take James from the south of England to Edinburgh, Scotland
Prince William took a tandem bike out for a spin, riding along with U.K. comedian Greg James as James continued on his weeklong 1,000-kilometer ride for charity.
In a social media video shared on March 17, the Prince of Wales, 43, joined James for a scenic leg through South Yorkshire. William sat behind James on the bike and wore an all-black biking outfit with a red helmet.
Tuesday marked the halfway point of James' ride, which began in Weymouth, in the south of England, and will end in Edinburgh on Friday, March 20. His journey is being streamed live on Radio 1's YouTube channel.
At one point during the ride, they passed a group of children that James greeted before pointing behind him and shouting, "It's Prince William!"
The royal heir yelled back, "It's a lookalike!"
As James processed aloud how the crowd likely didn't believe him, William told him, "They think you've lost it."
When James tried to point out the prince again, William replied, "He's hallucinating," to which they both laughed.
James is raising money for Comic Relief, a U.K. charity that hosts the annual Red Nose Day and raises funds to address homelessness, poverty and mental health around the world. James has raised over $1.2 million so far.
“What you’ve done is set an example about helping out," William told James. "That’s the thing. It’s volunteering some of your time, putting yourself through a bit of pain at the same time, and supporting others."
"It’s something we do very well in this country," he continued, "but we don’t really shout about it enough. This challenge helps everyone see that. And it’s an amazing team effort. Huge well done, Greg.”

"I’d joked when I recorded a recent radio show with him that he was very welcome to turn up and do a stint on the tandem, but I didn’t think he’d actually call my bluff," James said. "I can’t believe the impact of this daft challenge so far, and it’s just beyond my wildest dreams that I’d get trusted to carry the future king around on a big long tandem."
James added, jokingly: "He didn’t have to jump on and stare at my back for 40 mins, but I’m so grateful that he did."

It's not the first time Prince William has hopped on two wheels. In 2023, he and his wife, Kate Middleton, rode mountain bikes during a joint appearance in Scotland. William has also previously shared that he loved riding motorbikes in his younger years — but gave up the hobby because it left Kate "terrified."
The March 17 bike ride came two days after William shared a sweet tribute to his mother, Princess Diana, on Mothering Sunday, the U.K.'s version of Mother's Day.
On March 15, he shared a photo taken during his childhood on Instagram. The snap was taken at Highgrove in 1984 and showed the Prince of Wales, then 2, holding hands with Princess Diana, who would've died in 1997. She would have turned 65 on July 1.
"Remembering my mother, today and every day. Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W," he captioned the photo from his private collection.

The day prior, William cheered on Wales at the Six Nations rugby match against Italy at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. He attended the match in his role as patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, and was seen in a video shared online singing along to the Welsh national anthem.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have a busy week: They'll return to the royal spotlight on Wednesday, when they help King Charles host the president of Nigeria for a state visit.
