Gordon Ramsay might be known for cooking up a mean meal in the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean he’s always the one manning the stove. In a recent ad for Uber Eats, Ramsay encourages sports fans to leave the cooking to the professional on match day—after all, no one wants to miss a goal because they’re taking something out of the oven. Instead, he recommends ordering in while watching the World Cup from the comfort of home.

Baseball has hot dogs, football has wings, but what is the go-to food for watching soccer? Ramsay says, ā€œI really think it depends where you’re watching the game,ā€ but ultimately, he thinks football has it right. ā€œWings are always the perfect hit,ā€ he shares. ā€œAnd to top it off, you can have your wing sauce match the teams playing. So, if Mexico is on, you could go for a delicious mole-style wings, or if the U.S. is playing, topcoat the wings in a nice spicy Buffalo sauce.ā€

For match day, he says it’s all about the finger foods: ā€œPlenty of choice and something for everyone.ā€ And his non-negotiable when hosting a watch party? Making sure he is stocked up on plenty of drinks. ā€œIf, like us, you have a houseful of guests, everyone is going to be wanting something different! So stock up so there’s something for everyone,ā€ he explains.

But World Cup games aren’t the only time the celebrity chef is happy to take a break from cooking. With Father’s Day coming up this weekend, Ramsay shared the struggles involved in wrangling his large family. ā€œWe are now a very large family, 6 kids plus partners, husbands, their children too so going out with the full Ramsay family takes some planning!ā€ he says.

Fortunately, his 100th restaurant (!)—Bread Street Kitchen in Bishopgate—offers the perfect family-friendly dining experience that he says works for everyone. ā€œWe all love the team there and the menu where there’s absolutely something for everyone. Father’s Day at my restaurant in London with all my family would feel like a very special moment for us all to share,ā€ he says.

Of course, a family that big comes with a lot of differing opinions, personalities, and, of course, tastes—one of the reasons why Ramsay always stresses the importance of having a good variety of options when he’s hosting. And with kids ranging in age from 2 to 28, finding a dish they can all agree on is no small feat, especially once dietary restrictions come into play.

ā€œWe have vegetarians and pescatarians and little kids and very big kids, so that’s a lot of people to try and please!ā€ Ramsay tells me. ā€œI do find everyone seems to be able to agree on a really great mac and cheese, that perfect pasta to sauce ratio, great grilled top, it’s hard to beat!ā€
