Halle Berry’s ex, Olivier Martinez, claimed the actress “physically abused” their 12-year-old son, Mateo, in legal documents obtained by People.
Martinez reportedly filed a petition for a temporary restraining order against Berry for alleging causing him “emotional and mental distress due to physical abuse of our minor child, Maceo.”
Berry and Martinez were married from 2013 to 2015.
Halle Berry is denying ex-husband Olivier Martinez’s claims that she abused their son, Mateo. The former couple, who were married from 2013 to 2015, share joint custody of the 12-year-old, who they welcomed in 2013.
In a statement shared with Peopleand TMZ, Berry’s attorney Marina Beck said: “To say this filing is entirely meritless and deliberately misleading would be an understatement.” She later added: “Fortunately, Halle is used to this kind of outrageous conduct from Mr. Martinez and, while she is deeply saddened, she will not allow it to deter her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and providing him with the love and support he needs.” Reps for Berry and Martinez did not immediately respond to InStyle’s request for comment.

On October 1, People obtained a petition in which Martinez is seeking a temporary restraining order against Berry, claiming that she caused him “emotional and mental distress due to physical abuse of our minor child, Maceo.” Citing an alleged incident on September 26, Martinez claimed that Berry “physically abused our son, Maceo, by jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck, and choking him.”
Martinez added that Berry’s fiancé Van Hunt was there at the time of the incident and defended Maceo. He also alleges that Berry texted him, “[Maceo] is disrespectful to me and feels I have no say on anything. I’m just money bags. This is wrong and wrong!”

Martinez later alleged that Berry “downplayed the incidents, claiming she was joking or just playing with [Maceo].”

Berry and Martinez finalized their divorce after almost eight years in August 2023. They agreed to joint legal custody with the judge ruling that Berry pay Martinez $8,000 a month in child support, per People.
In addition to Maceo, Berry shares daughter Nahla, 18, with ex Gabriel Aubry.
