Love Is Blind Netherlands viewers have been left picking their jaws up off the floor after a conversation between contestants Mika and Jurriaan took a disgusting turn when Jurriaan made a comment rooted in racism.

Netflix
The pair had seemingly been getting on well in the pods, but things soon changed when Jurriaan, a 32-year-old sous chef, asked Mika, 26, a functional specialist, for her surname.
Mika told him that revealing her last name would give away something about her identity, which prompted Jurriaan to press further.
He explained that her surname was "pretty important" before Mika asked whether there was a particular type of person he wouldn’t be attracted to.
"I wouldn’t fall for a fully Black woman, you know?"

Jurriaan then acknowledged the silence, saying: "My face is red, please don’t leave me hanging like this."
Mika questioned his comments, reminding him of what he had previously said about falling for someone based on their personality.
"Babe, didn’t you say you fall for the person?" she asked.
"Yeah, that’s what matters," Jurriaan replied.

And somehow, the conversation managed to get even more uncomfortable. Jurriaan told Mika that she "sounds Dutch, that’s why it’s so strange".
Speaking in a confessional afterwards, Mika shared her thoughts on the interaction: "It hits me pretty hard because I’ve been rejected for that in the past, that people might have had a certain prejudice against me, maybe they had a certain idea because I have a different skin colour – and that doesn’t work for me."

NetflixLater, when the pair reconnected in the pods, Jurriaan attempted to explain himself, telling Mika that he valued their connection above physical appearance and that he had said the wrong things.
Mika appeared reassured by his explanation, and despite the conversation that has viewers at home lost for words, the pair ultimately chose each other to marry.
Which is quite the turn of events.

"He. Said. BLACK.
"FULLY. Black.
"Let’s not soften it to 'WOC' because being anti-Black is very specific. And she’s a fool for agreeing to his proposal."
