Justin Bieber‘s fans had the time of their lives at Coachella last weekend. However, things did not go all too well for the music festival as they had to allegedly pay a hefty fine of $20,000 for the pop star’s overtime on the stage. Besides Bieber, Coachella also ended up paying fines for Anyma’s set running overtime.
Justin Bieber’s set reportedly leads to a fine for Coachella
Justin Bieber held his first-ever headlining gig at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, on April 11. While the first weekend went well, the second one racked up thousands in fines, as per a rep for the city of Indio, who spoke about it to TMZ. On April 18, the “Baby” hitmaker pushed his set over by just two minutes, which cost the organizers $20,000 in fines.

Much to the crowd’s delight, Bieber serenaded longtime friend and fellow popstar, Billie Eilish, with his track, “One Less Lonely Girl.” The “Bad Guy” songstress was enjoying Bieber’s set in the crowd alongside his wife, Hailey Bieber, who insisted that Eilish get on the stage. Fans found the gesture incredibly endearing and also caught a glimpse of Eilish on the stage.
Meanwhile, Anyma’s set went nine minutes over the 1 AM cutoff on April 17. The organizers had to pay $24,000 in fines for this one, pushing the total to $44,000. TMZ reported that, according to Coachella’s long-standing agreement with the city of Indio, all of the fines will end up in the city’s general funds. These funds help in maintaining things like public works, police, and fire services.
According to a September 2025 report by Rolling Stone, an insider alleged that Bieber earned fees that were north of $10 million for the two weekends, $5 million for each weekend. This payout is similar to previous topline Coachella performers’ payments. The report also noted that he would not have to pay agency commission since festival promoter Goldenvoice’s parent company, AEG, has been Bieber’s touring partner throughout his career.
