In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the show's premiere, McDaniel shared some memories from the talk show's run

The Rosie O'Donnell Show aired on NBC from 1996 to 2002

Rosie O'Donnell's talk show meant a lot to the people who made it happen every day.

Music director John McDaniel, who was also a close friend of the actress and daytime host, shared a sweet tribute to the show on the 30th anniversary of its premiere.

Taking to Instagram with photos from throughout the show's run, McDaniel wrote, "Well, hey now! Today's the day, the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the Rosie O'Donnell Show."

"It's safe to say that these were some of the brightest and most exciting years of my life. So many who worked on the show are already gone, but those of us who remain share something very, very special. Through it all, the very best part of it for me was that my Mom and Dad got to watch me every single day," he continued.

"I'm still so amazed and thrilled that I had the opportunity to work with so many incredible artists. Thinking today of Eartha Kitt, Rosie Clooney, Madeline Kahn, and Tony Bennett, and there are so many more. Thanks again, Rosie, for the experience of a lifetime! ❤️."

"Love u," O'Donnell commented on the post.

McDaniel received five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition and was a big part of the show's two Emmy wins for Best Talk Show.

In a 2023 interview with Harvey Brownstone, McDaniel talked about becoming a household name through his appearances as the show's band leader."Rosie just asked me that question the other day. It's funny, and it's a great question because it actually was tangible. So we premiered June 10th, 1996. We went on the air on a Monday, and I remember on Tuesday walking down the street and having people go, 'Is that the guy from Rosie?' " he shared.

"It changed my recognizability factor overnight. Literally, the next day, and I thought, 'Oh wow, here we go,' and it was a wild ride. It was crazy. I had a stalker! It was nuts."
