Prince William and Kate Middleton will have a "great deal of sympathy" for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their paparazzi drama, according to a royal expert.

Earlier this week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's spokesperson released a statement revealing two international photographers were seen looking into the grounds of their children's school. The pair have been branded "extraordinarily reckless" and accused of an "unacceptable intrusion into the privacy of children."

According to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's security team, the two paparazzi appeared to be working together, and while protection officers noted down their vehicle's registration, it seemed to have been rented. This comes as Harry and Meghan reportedly issued a warning to parents at their kids' school.

Following news of the security breach, The Mirror US spoke exclusively with royal expert and E20 Communication's Lynn Carratt about the aftereffects. Lynn believes the drama could aid the Sussexes in reuniting with William and Kate, as the Princess of Wales previously experienced paparazzi intrusion in 2012.

Kate faced an "international paparazzi loophole" 14 years ago when photographs were taken of her using a long-lens camera while she was sunbathing topless.

The British media strictly followed regulatory codes and refused to touch the photos, knowing they were completely unethical and illegal under UK guidelines. However, French magazine Closer published the images, as international media do not follow the same editorial rules.

William and Kate immediately took aggressive legal action in the French courts, and in 2017, it was ruled the photos were a gross invasion of privacy.

Closer magazine's editor and owner were ordered to pay €100,000 ($112,500) in damages to the royals, and executives were slapped with the maximum criminal fines allowed under French law.

As the paparazzi seen at Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's school were reportedly international, they would also not follow UK guidelines. However, if any photographs were taken, the British press would not be able to use them.

Speaking about the school incident, Lynn told us, "This latest incident involving photographers allegedly looking into the grounds of Archie and Lilibet's school could be one of those rare situations where William and Kate completely understand how Harry and Meghan are feeling."

Lynn also noted that William and Kate have always been "fiercely protective of George, Charlotte and Louis," drawing a "very clear line" between their public and private lives.

"So I would imagine there will be a great deal of sympathy for Harry and Meghan over what has reportedly happened at Archie and Lilibet's school," the royal expert added.

Moreover, Lynn believes that Kate and William could reach out to Harry and Meghan privately, but noted, "We obviously don't know whether that will happen, and I wouldn't suggest this incident alone is suddenly going to repair years of difficulties between the brothers."
