A former flame could be reigniting next week on Days of Our Lives.
The official Days of Our Lives YouTube channelreleased the promo teasing what’s ahead on the Peacock soap for the week of January 9 – 13 2026.
In the promo, viewers see Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Gwen Rizcheck (Emily O’Brien) appearing to enjoy an unexpected golf outing, as on-screen text reads, “As goodbyes are said, and hellos begin.”

What is Xander and Gwen's History?
On-Screen Xander and Gwen share one of the more complicated relationship histories in recent Days of Our Lives memory.
In 2021, Gwen suffered a miscarriage and, instead of confiding in her loved ones, framed her half-sister Abigail Deveraux, ultimately causing a serious accident. The secret later led to Gwen being blackmailed by Dr. Clay Snyder (Michael Lowry), who threatened to expose the truth unless
Xander eventually discovered the pills and confronted Gwen, learning the full extent of her actions. When he later confronted Snyder, the doctor died of a heart attack before Xander could act.

With Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) no longer in Salem at the time, Xander and Gwen entered a relationship of their own. However, Gwen manipulated Xander utilizing a mask of Sarah to convince him the two would never reunite. Xander and Gwen’s planned wedding in 2022 was ultimately derailed when Abigail exposed Gwen’s lies.
Since then, Xander rebuilt his relationship with Sarah, while Gwen moved on with Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte). Both relationships have since ended, and with Xander and Gwen slowly rebuilding a tentative friendship over the past year, fans have begun speculating that the promo may signal another step towards a possible reunion.
